Daniel Micallef

Biography

Dr Ing. Daniel Micallef is a senior lecturer at the University of Malta, Faculty for the Built Environment. He is also an associate member of the Institute for Sustainable Energy at the University of Malta. In 2008, Daniel graduated, with first class honours, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta.

He started his professional career in the public sector with the Malta Resources Authority as an energy analyst. He joined the DUWIND group at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands where and pursued his PhD studies jointly with both TUDelft and the University of Malta. His research focused on furthering the understanding of wind turbine flow phenomena close to the tip using various approaches including vortex codes and particle image velocimetry. He graduated with a PhD degree from TUDelft in 2012.

Daniel later continued his post-doctoral research career at the University of Malta working mostly on Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis of novel welding techniques. He then became resident academic at the University of Malta. Daniel published in high quality peer reviewed journals and conferences worldwide.
