Antoine Gatt

Biography

Mr Antoine Gatt completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Landscape architecture at the University of Gloucestershire in the UK. Over the past 22 years he has worked on various projects related to garden design, urban design, design of public open spaces and habitat conservation both locally and abroad. 

He is currently employed as a Research Support Officer at the Faculty for the Built Environment, University of Malta, where he lectures and tutors students on landscape architecture related subjects. He is currently reading for a Doctorate degree in green roof performance. 

For the last nine years he has been researching green roofs for their benefits in rendering urban spaces more liveable and sustainable. For four years he managed the LifeMedGreenRoof project, an EU funded project aimed at understanding the potential of green roofs in the local scene and pushed towards the introduction of this technology. He has also managed other EU funded projects.

Apart from green roofs, his interests also lie in sustainable urban design, sustainable landscapes, green infrastructure and ecosystem services. He is also interested in the design of sensory landscapes.

He is the author of a number of articles on landscape architecture, green roofs and green infrastructure.
